This is my fifth pair of these shoes. I love them so much for hiking and travel

The shoes just are way smaller than the sizing. I generally wear a 12.5D but had to go up to 13.5 with the Bushnido and even still, they are really narrow, especially in the toe box. The traction and feel are solid, and they are durable water-proof trail shoes but they either need to market the shoes for small and narrow feet only or fix their sizing issues

Title says it all. Out of the box, the bottom of the shoes were caked in mud and the tops were covered in dog hair. Needless to say, I'm returning these. They looked to be well built, so may try again; however, REI could do a lot better with regards to inspections returned items and selling them as new.

Here’s a clearer version that keeps the sizing context but makes the fit issue easier to follow: To calibrate on sizing, I typically wear a women’s 7 in dress shoes and an 8 in athletic shoes. In this shoe, I ordered a 41, equivalent to a women’s 9.5. I tried the standard width in store and found it too narrow, so I ordered the wide instead. The wide felt great walking around the house, but after just a few miles on the trail, both my feet and joints became very uncomfortable. The biggest issue was the fit through the heel: my heels swam in the heel cups unless I tightened the laces aggressively, which then made the shoes uncomfortable elsewhere. I had hoped to use these for more technical hiking, but ultimately couldn’t get a secure, comfortable fit for my feet. Also the rubber on the sole was not as grippy I would have liked.

I've been looking for Gore-Tex trail shoes in a color other than white, black, or otherwise bland and was delighted to see these in their orange and turquoise glory! Even better, they come in small enough sizes to overlap with women's sizing, which is how I, a chick with size 8 feet, ended up ordering men's shoes. Order a half-size up, as they run both short and narrow; I wear a 39 in Euro sizing and needed the 39.5. They're still a little narrow, but with thinner socks, they'll be perfect for trotting around in light rain or through dewy grass.
