Garmin Swim 2 Armband

The Garmin Swim 2 adds running and cycling to its great swimming specs, but there are accuracy issues—and it lacks all the features of a modern smartwatch.

I’m disappointed with this watch as I bought it primarily to count lengths of a standard 25m pool. I’ve found it to be completely unreliable in this regard. Sometimes it is out by as much as a factor of 2. It is even inconsistent in how much it was out by. I’m an average swimmer, swimming about 40-60lengths all of which are front crawl at a steady pace. It can count fairly accurate for some of the lengths within each swim session but mostly totally unreliable. The rest of the functions on watch are fine. And the app it connects to is easy to work.

So glad I bought this! I’ve just started increasing my swims to a mile each time and I just couldn’t remember the counts of the laps so I read the reviews and I saw this at a great price from Boots. I literally forgot how good wearing a watch is everyday and it’s just become indispensable in the pool. I was worried that it wouldn’t count breast stroke but I mainly do front crawl and back stroke but actually I haven’t noticed an issue with breast stroke. The watch counts your steps as well. There’s so many features that I haven’t explored yet but for my swim I am now lost without it.

A very good bit of kit if you want to elevate your swim workouts. I previously had a very basic stopwatch to mostly monitor how much time I actually spent swimming, as opposed to chatting at the end of the pool. With this watch I can set a time per length so it acts like a metronome, it records my heart rate, whether I’ve improved my aerobic ability and gives me a space for self evaluation. I’ve improved with the aid of the watch as i now have the tools to go with my self motivation.
