I upgraded from a Samsung S95 to the Sony Bravia 8 because of a number of different reasons and all I can say is that I’m glad I did. The Sony Bravia 8 is a brilliant tv and I highly recommend it.

Great picture, very responsive to the remote. Simplified remote from my old Bravia TV, much better.

I’ve always trusted Sony for quality, which makes this experience even more frustrating. My Sony TV stopped powering on after only 14 months of normal use — just two months outside the 12-month warranty. For a premium-priced TV, that’s completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, Sony’s response was basically “too bad.” No goodwill repair, no discount on service, nothing. They simply pointed to the warranty and left me to deal with the cost of a service technician. When you pay a premium price, you expect a premium product and at least some level of support when it fails just past the warranty window. Honestly, at this point you’re better off buying a cheaper TV — at least you won’t feel as frustrated when it stops working after a year. Very disappointed in both the durability of the product and Sony’s lack of customer support.

Bought this a while ago. Looks great on the wall. Slim powerful and real lives up to its names. Sony all the way
