Suunto Core Alphacore Alpha Stealth Sportuhr Herren/Frauen -SS050504000

This watch is great but the one I received from REI, which is supposed to have a 12-18 month battery life (the very reason I bought it) died 2 months into owing it and 3 days into my AT thru-hike. I’ll have to skip waiting for customer service because I need it ASAP so this is very frustrating and not what I wanted to have to deal with for a $200 watch. If it died 2 months into a 12-18 month life span with very lite use (barely touched it until I got on the trail) than something is surly wrong.

I've owned one since 2014 and have used it extensively hiking and backpacking. The altimeter/barometer with storm alarm gives a quick heads up when weather is changing. Just calibrate to known elevation every now and then. Thermometer is accurate after about 10 minutes off your wrist. Compass features declination and is quite accurate, but I also carry a dedicated compass so the watch is more of a backup. Battery is easy to change in the field. Has preprogrammed sunrise/sunset for your region and dual time zones. I use the timer more often than the stopwatch, great for cooking. Overall great watch, and you don't have to charge it everyday. If you prefer using a smartwatch, this is a great backup to take along. Watch band doesn't last, replaced mine with a nato style and have been good since. Vey light on the wrist and comfortable. Overall it's been a great watch for me

This is a great watch. I got the Suunto core instead of the alpha because it has a brighter screen. The compass is very accurate just be sure to keep it level when activating compass. When setting my compass I set it on something like a cup and rotating it counter clockwise slowly and fluent to get best result.

I'm replacing an older Suunto Core - it's a great basic watch for hiking and I mostly have it for the altimeter on a watch where the battery lasts for months, not days. The functions haven't changed at all.. but the display! What's with the all-black display?? At the right angle it's all easily readable - but running up a trail with a sweat stain? not so much, it's difficult to read the time when Alt is the primary display. What were they thinking?
