For our home, this looked like a big win in terms of speed, size, and value. Product arrived, looked great, easy to install and speed was everything it claimed to be. Less than a week in, the router died. Went into an unrecoverable, repeating reboot cycle. No problem - flukes happen. Amazon sent out a quick replacement which installed just as easily. However, the 5G band worked for only about an hour before disappearing. TP Link customer support was non-responsive. I contacted Amazon tech support who contacted TP Link support on my behalf. TP Link was not able to resolve the problem and, according to the tech who was acting as my go-between, was "pretty rude". I will not risk another disappoint with TP Link until I see >90% gushing reviews on one of their products. Maybe. Current rating at the time of my purchase was around 66%. Should have paid better attention.

Wifi signal is very good when the router is working. Now after 4 months of no interruptions, I am now experiencing intermittent signal dropouts (5x/wk) and the only way to rectify is to shut off/on. I've been troubleshooting the situation for a couple weeks, but came to a conclusion it's the router. In the meantime, ive deployed my old router, just trotting at slower speeds but at least the connection is solid. Other than that, the the unit was easy to install and configure.

I ordered this as my prior netgear died i wanted to try a different brand (result was i returned this and got a new netgear) while it was up it performs well and the antivirus did its job for my family but after a month or so the thing dropped to KB's for bandwidth and my pipline is outputting 1gb -300 mbs i was distraught as i was past the 30 day return window But amazons customer support was great and worked with me to return the product (amazon gets 5 starts for their service) overall id suggest a netgear brand as i havent had any die within 2 years normally , this tcp lasts barely 2 months from my experience and noting others have had similar issues

I've used several of these for clients and they work great overall. The last one did have a major problem dropping wifi connections every minute or so. The first thing I did was check the firmware, which is very easy directly from the setup screen. It will download and install it for you, unlike most brands that force you to download it from a website and manually install it. After the firmware update I did have to reconfigure the router (which is to be expected), but the wifi connections were then rock solid. Just some advice, you should ALWAYS update the firmware on any new router regardless of the brand before putting it into production. You never know how long it's sit on a shelf before you bought it and manufacturers are always coming out with updates that fix problems, help performance and add features.

I shopped around and bought this router based on the recommendation of some website or other, I'm glad I did. It's reasonably priced and the wireless works very well. I replaced an older ASUS RT-N56U with this one. I use WiFi Analyzer to monitor the signal coverage in my house and this one definitely provides a stronger signal over a wider range than the old one, on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. It might not have as many bells and whistles as some higher-priced models, and while I stream movies and TV, I don't do on-line gaming, so I can't comment on it's performance as far as that goes, but it has everything I need.
