Michelin Sommerreifen Pilot Sport 4 S 305/30R21 XL 104Y

Experienced Aquaplaning at approx 120 kmh on Belgian highway, had approx 4mm thread. Other than this, the tires wear out very quickly. Front wheels are down to 1-2mm after 18000 km. Front wheels wear out strangely on the outside, can probably blame the car model rather than tire for this... Rear wheels still have 3mm left and even wear. Switched to Hankook to see if I experience any difference.

Very good performance on dry roads, very good performance on wet roads, very low aquaplaning on the race track, very high performance

Before that I used Continental tires. I had to replace the Conti's every two years due to my driving style. I learned from forums that the wear and tear at Michelin is significantly better. So I chose the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. So far I can't say anything to the contrary, but I've only been using the tires for 6 months. However, what I immediately noticed was the increased fuel consumption, the louder road noise and the lack of grip on wet roads. The Continental tires (Premium Contact 6) did significantly better. On dry roads, on the other hand, Michelin tires have an advantage. Also for road holding feels better and safer. If the tire actually lasts a year longer, that outweighs the disadvantages of the Michelin. Until then, the Michelin mmn will remain behind the Contis.

I decided on this model, because when I bought them, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 were very expensive, almost three times as much, at Michelin they went crazy. Since they were so expensive, they probably didn't sell a Pilot Sport Cup 2, and now they have dropped them quite a bit in price again. Comparing the Sport 4S with the Sport Cup 2, the 4S go very well in the dry, but they do not reach the level of the Cup 2, neither in grip, nor in line, nor in braking. But the 4S are very good tires and if your driving is normal, giving the car some joy from time to time, the 4S are going to be great for you. But if you are looking for a higher level, without a doubt I opt for Cup 2. To keep in mind, if you usually drive in areas where it rains a lot, the 4S are better in the wet than the Cup 2, despite the fact that the latter do not defend themselves bad in the wet.
