Canon Lens Filter Protect 52mm

I like the idea of having a circular polarizer filter on my 500mm but when photographing animals I just could not be bothered with it as things happen way too fast.

A bit expensive but still a useful product application for the Canon telephoto lenses. Polarizing filters cant be counted upon to reduce glare without adjustment to address the source of the glare. In all of the non-telephoto lenses the objective lens is accessible, so a simple polarizing filter mounting that allows the filter be spun around to block the glare is sufficient. But in the telephoto lenses it is not possible to reach the polarizing filter to make the required adjustment without removing the filter element entirely, making an adjustment blind, reinstalling the filter, and then rechecking the adjustment. This filter attachment allows the filter to be adjusted while in place via a simple gear inside the lens cowling and an adjustment wheel accessible outside the cowling. A handy device that removes the tedium of making the necessary adjustments to the polarizing filter.

This 52 mm screw-in filter works well for Canon 500mm lenses. My Series 1 500mm lense came with a gelatin filter. This filter holder with a screw in glass filter can be cleaned better than the gelatin filter, and you can use other 52 mm glass filters with it.

control wheel is hard to get at when adjusting light. It is small does not protrude high enough to get a finger on. hides under the flash mount protrusion on front of on the camera. Poorly designed.
