This had to be the easiest setup piece in the whole network. Literally plug and play - the PoE worked without a hitch - phones sound great and did not need a power source. Will definitely buy again once the extra ports are necessary

Way over kill for home use... so it is perfect for me.. Love to have the FIOS tech talk down to me till he sees my server rack...

I got this Smart Managed Switch thinking that it works with basic features of a smart switch. It lacks one of the most basic features. It doesn't show the complete MAC address of the device connected to the port. I already have this switch in production for over a week. If it needs to learn the port connections it should have updated itself by now. This switch is OK if used as unmanaged switch. I contacted tech support to walkthrough the GUI and get the MAC address of device associated with the port. Went through the GUI but long story short, I was told it does not have that feature (?).

I've got a number of netgear's managed switches, this was just the latest purchase. The hardware is solid, if previous switches are any indication, this switch will probably outlive the building it's in. The switch has a lot of configurability and many options that I would expect to find in an enterprise-grade switch costing quite a bit more. The configuration process can be a little confusing (there are three places to change a port's VLAN, and you need to review all of them) and the QoS options are numerous and - just take the word of this greybeard and stick with the defaults unless you really have your mind set to CoS to DSCP mappings in a hybrid L2/L3 switch. This is a very efficient switch, and despite the number of ports and PoE capacity, it generates much less heat than I expected.

Very nice gigabit POE access switch. We use them a lot and the lifetime warranty is fantastic.
