Netgear GS316, Unmanaged, L2, Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000), Wandmontage

Having wrestled with multiple 8 port switches I finally decided to up my game and pick up a 16 port switch. I couldn't be happier with the Netgear GS316. It has all the ports up front and easily viewable lighting so I know that gigabit traffic is occuring and which ports are active. I have no present need for a managed switch, which makes this the perfect plug and play solution to upgrade my network and consolidate network routes. Since each switch or access point can double your latency (Each hop affects your network traffic) consolidating the network route has the potential to double your throughput, and it certainly helped me with mine. Highly recommend Netgear overall, but this was a definite good purchase.

This is a basic device that is used to extend the number of physical connections/wired connection your network. Very easy install - unbox, place rubber tabs/feet (optional), plug cable from one router part to the designated port on the device (refer to provided guide), and power on. Now you can plug in up-to 15 more networked devices! The device is low profile, takes minimal space, and low power usage. Great device if you’re looking to add more wired connections to your network.

I purchased the 16-port GS316 over 9 months ago. It's worked so flawlessly I haven't had a reason to look up my order until now when I was curious about seeing if it has bandwidth-limiting capability (it does not; I guess that's what the "unmanaged" aspect is). It does what I expected it to: allow me to connect up to 15 devices to a single cable modem so all 15 devices can connect through the fast gigabit connection instead of wireless. I don't know what all these other negative reviews are going on about. ^_^;;

Worked great to replace multiple smaller switches and outdated routers.... I moved to a 300MB internet connection and needed to clean up my wiring setup. This switch was a great help, great price and the right size. Good buy.

I was purchasing this for the additional ports, and could not get this to work on my network no matter what I tried. I ended up putting my old TrendNet back on and returning this device. Other reviewers had the same experience and I wasn't taking nay chances.
