It’s Synology what’s not to like? Great customer service, tech support is top notch, they really stand by any warranty issues I have had which are few and far between.

Synology technical support leaves a LOT to be desired and must improve as they are shipping and designing larger and larger NAS units. Be aware their typical support responses are: 1. Are you using Synology official RAM? 2. Re-install DSM. 3. Backup all your data and reformat the unit. Unacceptable in 2016 with NAS units that support terabytes of storage. Synology Technical Support does not provide a professional level of support and I feel their reps are there to just close tickets. Revised 7/9/16 to reflect absolutely horrible technical support!

A nice improvement over the old DX1211 unit. Specific improvements include tool-less drive trays that make inserting and removing drives quick and easy, simplified drive lights (one light per drive instead of two), MUCH faster startup time, and modular fan unit that allows you to quickly swap out a broken fan without disassembling the case and without any tools. It comes with the same short length of cable that the old DX1211 did, so like the DX1211, the new DX1215 needs to be situated directly next to the main unit it's attached to. The DX1215 is in fact the same exact case that the DS3615xs comes in, so they look perfect next to each other. You can attach the DX1215 to a DS3612xs, so if you have that older DiskStation, it will work fine. However, you cannot attach the older DX1211 expansion unit to the new DS3615xs, so just keep that in mind if you have a few of these things around.
