I'm using these as height speakers for my Dolby Atmos set up (5.1.2 in a smaller room, about 3m from back wall to screen). They do the height job very admirably. They're small but cope very well with the occasional height sounds coming out of them. Sorry I can't really attest to how they are with music or the like, probably in need of a subwoofer would be my guess given I have larger speakers in other ceilings that wouldn't suffer having a subwoofer around.

The NS-IC400WH is tinny and unpleasant sounding. The NSIC600WH2s sound much better and aren't that much bigger.

Not bad at all, for a small speaker it sounds very nice. Like the way the back of the speaker is all covered and you don't have to worry about dust or other things touching the electronics. Good

The Yamaha NS-IC400WH In-ceiling 4 inch speakers do not have much "throw", or volume. I planned to use these to replace the rear surround speakers in my Bose home theatre system, mainly because of room limitation issues. But when I tested them, they were not very loud, even with the rear speaker volume up full. Very disappointing, since I liked the small size. I returned them for the Yamaha 6 inch speakers, which work much better in that regard. Bose makes a similar speaker but at an excessive price in my opinion.
