Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary - Zwart - SET

I bought these speakers as replacements for a pair of Warfedale 10.1's purely on the basis of their retro looks and how well they matched the paneling in the den at my beach house. I didn't expect them to perform much better than the 10.1's. Not only do they look great, they sound great; I was really surprised. The sound is much fuller and the clarity and brightness significantly better. I don't know how you could find something better for $400. They are driven by a Decco 65 (more retro). My system at home uses Heresy III's and a Mac 5200, Does it sound better? Yes. A lot better? Hmm...

Bought these speakers from Music Direct as an open box item. Was a little concerned at first but thought I’d give it a go. Speakers arrived in perfect condition. Hooked up to my Denon PMA 2000 IVR amp. For the price point of $400 open box with the walnut finish, I was simply amazed. I can’t believe how well the bass sounds for being only 5” woofer. Treble is excellent and vocals are clear. If you are wanting to upgrade your current speakers with a retro design. I can’t think of anything better.

First off, the depth and soundstage of these is incredible. They are a mature sounding speaker, a touch of vintage sound, very rich but with much better bass extension and impact than you will find on a lot of vintage speakers. I am actually shocked at the bass they get out of these little drivers. I've had these about a year and have them paired with a Rega Brio-R amp and Rega dac. Great sounding combination. Another thing to note... While these are plenty rich and detailed, and really come alive with lossless or vinyl, they aren't so picky that Spotify (@ 320kbps) sounds like garbage. I appreciate this. My brother has a pair of Kef LS50s. And yes, they sound great, but when you play an MP3 through them they just sound awful. These Wharfedales are quite forgiving. Everything sounds good on them.

These speakers are absolutely amazing the sound great with ANY type of music driving them with a Cambridge cxA60 pro-ject esprit sb and pro-ject tube box s the combo is great and the speakers are absolutely beautiful they are definitely on par with the kef ls50s people call them poor mans harbeths and this is true the sound is just so full bodied.

Got a great price on these, take a bit of warming up to get the full sound but they're great for the price.
