The new Speedcross 6 have serious quality issues. I've blown out of the toe box after just a couple months in two pairs of shoes with only a couple hundred miles on them. I've been wearing Speedcross for a decade or more now and it used to be that I'd wear through the lugs before I'd remotely see wear on the uppers in the Speedcross 4s and 5s. REI replaced one pair and I got another set thinking it was a fluke but after blowing through the toe box on another set it seems the quality of the fabric just isn't what it used to be. I wanted these to be my forever shoes, when the quality of the uppers was on point they were the absolute best shoes on the market and I've converted dozens of people to them. I'm so disappointed.

I can’t speak for the shoe, but maybe the person that ran in them before I bought them could. These were purchased as NEW. They came in a generic box that fell apart when I opened the package. Not a Salomon box. Not a Salomon tag on the shoe. Not the paper inserts that keep the shoe structure in place. The soles of the shoes were black. Now I have to pay for return shipping for used shoes. I have a race next week but can’t wear these because I refuse to wear used shoes that I paid $120 for, thinking they were new. These were from the swap rack. I’m so disappointed in REI for doing this and thinking it would be okay. This is how you treat your members? No thanks. Now I’m out $7.99 shipping the worn shoes back. Money is tight for me and that is a lot of money. When I spend it on new shoes I expect to get new shoes. This was like an Amazon purchase but from REI.
