I hate the redesigned Ariah 8. The Ariah has been my go-to shoe for years (especially loved the 7s), with stability and a firmer cushion it was the perfect balance. By adding more cushion, it now rides like the Gaviota which I have also found to be clunky and not suitable for anything faster than a very slow jog. Maybe if you like a more plush ride like other Hoka's they could work for you, but I preferred the more responsive feel of prior Ariah. Fortunately, I found some Ariah 7’s still on close out at online retailers, but when those are done I will be searching for a new model/brand☹ Using these for slow recovery runs, as the fit is good, but once worn out will not buy again.

Great walking shoes! This is my husband's first time wearing tennis shoes with this much support and cushion and he is loving them!

This shoe changed a lot for me. Right around my 50th bday, I started having knee pain, without any memorable injury. I went to the dr, who said it was likely arthritis. I ended up wearing a brace, tried a roller, and other things, but ultimately had to limit regular exercise for about 6 months with little improvement. I went in to REI and got analyzed by a really compassionate sales person, and tried these shoes among others. She encouraged me to walk around the store a while in a couple pairs. These were the winner for me. I realized I wasn't shifting my weight, as I normally did while standing for long periods. I have not had knee pain since wearing them. I never spent this much on shoes, but well worth it, IMO.

I have worn New Balance 1080’s for years. However when it came time for a new pair of shoes the New Balance 1080’s were difficult to find in a color I liked. So I began trying on different brands and settled on the HOKA Arahi 8. They seemed very comfortable while trying on in store so I decided to give them a shot. Usually once I begin wearing new shoes I go through an uncomfortable period where my ankles and knees ache, but that has not been the case with the HOKA Arahi 8. They have been great right out of the shoot. I’m happy I tried them!
