I purchased HOKA Arahi 8 after my regular shoes--Brooks Adrenaline--was redesigned and they screwed it up badly. I've had 15 pairs of Brooks, but the redesign made them unwearable for me. These HOKAs are fantastic! They are supportive and cushioning and are my new go-to.

I bought these because they are marketed as "Maximum Cushion" on REI website, so I figured it would be like the Bondi but with more stability. I can wear the Bondi all day for 10 hours on concrete and its no problem. These made my feet hurt after 4 hours. They are at best Moderate Cushion and completely different. Not sure what the cushion rating really means if this is "maximum" but I was almost limping at the end of a 7 hour shift.

I hate the redesigned Ariah 8. The Ariah has been my go-to shoe for years (especially loved the 7s), with stability and a firmer cushion it was the perfect balance. By adding more cushion, it now rides like the Gaviota which I have also found to be clunky and not suitable for anything faster than a very slow jog. Maybe if you like a more plush ride like other Hoka's they could work for you, but I preferred the more responsive feel of prior Ariah. Fortunately, I found some Ariah 7’s still on close out at online retailers, but when those are done I will be searching for a new model/brand☹ Using these for slow recovery runs, as the fit is good, but once worn out will not buy again.

Great walking shoes! This is my husband's first time wearing tennis shoes with this much support and cushion and he is loving them!

These have been great so far. Love how soft they feel under my feet.
