Der Sennheiser HD 800 S ist ein kabelgebundener Over-Ear-Kopfhörer für den Heimgebrauch. Er hat große 56-mm-Treiber, eine offene Bauweise und eine Impedanz von 300 Ohm. Dadurch ist er besonders für Nutzer mit gutem Verstärker und ruhiger Umgebung gedacht. Für mobilen Einsatz, laute Orte oder einfachen Plug-and-Play-Betrieb ist er weniger geeignet.

I was lucky enough to win a pair of Sennheiser HD800S headphones via a Richer Sounds online competition. I seriously doubted I'd win but luckily I did. The headphones are large but comfortable. They're open backed so music is audible to others on the room. What do they sound like - nice and crisp and clear. A good dynamic range with a subtle bass, not too overpowering as with some manufacturers. I believe their quality is more subtle than stark when tested against other headphones. Are they worth the price tag - my answer to that would be "questionable". Definitely try them out to hear them for yourself before parting with your money. I suspect they would grow on you over time, like a comfy pair of slippers.

They do sound amazing, quite utilitarian in terms of construction and comfort - I prefer beyerdynamic. But the sound quality is totally there. Not disappointed at all despite the high price.

Having read that the HD800S have one of the best soundstages out there I gave in. Already owning the bass heavy Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 3s, I also wanted some cans that were “neutral” and analytical, and I must say the separation and detail is fantastic. I’m not an expert, but I know what sounds good and these are recommended. Worth noting that a decent headphone amp is required as these are fairly high impedance.

I bought these headphones this week after testing them at the Preston store in July. I listened to three other (more expensive) sets alongside them and they all fell short of the HD800s. These headphones are outstanding and everything I hoped they would be. Everything I listen to sounds incredible and I am a very happy customer. Thanks to Howie at your Preston store for arranging my demo and being a lovely fella who was a pleasure to deal with.

My older HD 650 from RS and with a very good Price match/ Discount from "Mark" had no hesitation ordering the HD800s from the Swiss Cottage Store . The headphones not cheap but to me value for money . The Build quality Box cable accesories are Premium. Big but light and comfortable the detail is awesome with Jazz Vocals indeed most genres . Soundstage and instrument placement are better heard than described. Bass is very natural and tight though not " in your face " . Now , I need a heaphone Amp .. to maximise benefits . It is a delightful peice of technology . It is easy to enjoy the music and forgetone has them on.
