I can definitely recommend these to those looking for high energy, all-rounders or those seeking the TOTL forms of the DT 1990 or HD 600. Personally, I think these are still a bit too neutral for my taste, but would certainly be an excellent pillar in many a collection.

The Audeze LCD-5 is an idea made flesh, a way for the company to show off the very pinnacle of its technological and auditory advances. They represent the best of what planar magnetic headphones can do, and right from the first time you open the cardboard box to lay eyes on the aluminum suitcase that envelopes them, they exude rarified air. After breathing that air, I don't want to come back to the ground. You can get great headphones for less than a tenth of the $4,500 price tag of the LCD-5 in Audeze's Amazon listing. Simply looking at prices is the wrong way to compare them. This is the headphone version of a hypercar, tuned to within a nanometer of the redline to perform at its peak. What's different here is that the LCD-5 can be used all day, every day, for all of your music. It doesn't need perfect weather, a clean, blemish-free track, and premium gasoline to sing. All the LCD-5 needs to sing is your favorite music.

This is a difficult one to answer. Obviously, the answer is yes, you should, but I totally appreciate not everyone has Audeze-level budgets to spend on a pair of headphones; I would be naïve to think this the case. However, if you are in the process of building out your hi-fi setup and have the cash to spare, then these cans are more than worthy of your consideration. In all, you won't be disappointed at all, even if you do end up notching the bass a touch. That is fine, you're still going to get incredible levels of detail all delivered in ridiculously fast response times. You get me here? EVERYTHING SOUNDS AMAZING.
