Shining Resonance Refrain bietet ein solides Action-JRPG mit spannender Welt und musikalischem Fokus. Die Kämpfe sind dynamisch, die Band-Mechanik bringt zusätzliche Strategie. Der Refrain-Modus und viele Extras machen dies zur umfassendsten Version. Die Story ist jedoch recht standardisiert und man besucht oft dieselben Gebiete. Einige Bosskämpfe sind schwierig und erfordern viel Grinding. Es gibt technische Probleme wie Framerate-Einbrüche und Musikfehler. Die große Anzahl an Skills und die schwache Erklärung können für Neueinsteiger verwirrend sein. Insgesamt empfehlenswert für JRPG-Fans, die Charakterentwicklung und Musik schätzen, weniger für Story-Suchende.

Shining Resonance Refrain is a remaster of the latest title in the Shining franchise. Never released outside of Japan, Shining Resonance released back on the PlayStation 3 and the remaster has finally got a western release. The question is: was it the wait worth it?

Shining Resonance Refrain is an entertaining adventure through a somewhat cliche story, but it contains its own unique aspects that keep you engaged. Combat is easy to learn, but there's a decent amount of depth to it. Dragonshift and B.A.N.D. sessions are wonderful combat mechanics that add more charm to the game. The relationship building and dating also adds a cute slice of life portion to the adventure. — Codi Spence
