This is my first time playing a Tales game but the amount of cut scenes and dialogue is exhausting. I played for a few hours and realized it was going nowhere fast. The combat didn't stick out as anything special or unique. It might pick up later in game but it's a slow trudge to get there

If you ever wanted to play a classic JRPG but were annoyed with turn based battles, give this a try. It’s structured just like a dragon quest for final fantasy, but the combat is action based and involves catching you enemies in massive combos instead of picking actions from a menu. The exploration is fun, albeit linear, and the further you get the more fun the combat becomes. Story is just ok though. The plot line is interesting and surprisingly nuanced, but the dialogue is a little flat and characters often stand around talking for way too long in situations that shouldn’t allow time for that. Over all though, a worthwhile playthrough. Despite its issues the story is more then enough to give you a reason to keep playing
