To have a complete understanding of what's going on there's other games in the series you should play through or you might be lost . Metal gear in 1987 on the original Nintendo what's groundbreaking at the time ,Metal gear solid in 1999 on Playstation 1 , was one of the greatest games ever released on PlayStation 1 , Metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty and Metal gear 3 Snake eater on ps2 were also phenomenal . There are three Metal gears games released on Nintendo DS Metal gear ghost babel, Metal gear acid ,Metal gear acid 2 all great . one VR training missions game before metal gear 4 guns the Patriots . It's a very long complicated story that hideo kojima put together it's an award-winning series and definitely worth the time .
