The lightest of Gitzo's travel tripods. Super short when folded at only 36.5cm, even with its ball head, so it will fit within most backpacks, rather than strapped to the outside. Great stability.

Good structure, nice and solid, Leg locks are easy to use and lock nice and tightly. Somewhat short but if you are travelling this is able to fit into pretty much any backpack.

I bought this recently as a compact tripod, my others being a Gitzo Mountaineer series 3 CF and a Systematic 3 series CF, both of which are unsuitable for travel if you have back problems as I now have (though both have been used throughout Scandinavia). I use this with my Nikon FX cameras & Macro lenses & it is good enough for mycophotography and landscape photography. I have also used it with my 300mm f4 telephone in a hide and it's been fine. I wouldn't use it in windy conditions and am considering buying the series 2 travel tripod later for when I need a more robust tripod.
