I had a standard tripod that I wrestled with each time I tried to adjust my camera's position. I finally got tired of fighting it and the Gitzo tripod and ball head. What a difference! It's so easy to reposition my camera wherever I need it. I have a Nikon D5100 with some pretty heavy lenses, but it easily handles them. Packing it in my bag for a trip and easily fits in. Wish I had gotten this first rather than wasting money on cheaper tripod. I would highly recommend this tripod and Gitzo ball head.

I teamed this head with a new Gitzo GT2541EX 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod. Smooth is how I would characterize the operation of the head and the tripod. Well engineered and precise. My comment about the tripod being a good investment, not an expense, applies equally to the Gitzo GH2750 Series 2 Off Center Magnesium Ballhead.

The engineering brain I have keep me wondering about the quick release system. NO Problem solid as a rock !
