Sony FE 300mm F/2.8 GM OSS + FE 2.0x Teleconverter

it is superb, of the quality one should expect from a GM Sony lens, it is however, the weight that astonishes. it is not at all cumbersome as one would expect from a lengthy prime lens, meaning that a tripod becomes far less necsesarry for a tripod to be needed for fast moving subjects.

This lens is so good . Brilliant on its own or with teleconverters. So hi sold my 600mm f4.

This is quite simply the best birding lens I have owned. Paired with the 2x Teleconverter it is now my go to for almost any birding adventure. Too dark, just switch to the 1.4 x tc and 420mm at f4 is still very useful. Darker still, tc’s off, 300mm f2.8 is stunning. This lens is so hand holdable. The focus ring falls exactly where i need it for quick manual focus overrides. It’s perfectly balanced on my A1ii and focuses incredibly quickly. And then the image quality: it is stunning. Edges are cleaner than I’ve ever seen even in the most difficult light. Heck i just love it.

Birding and other wildlife, fabulous for birding on its own or with the 1.4x or 2x TC I love this as it's so portable and light, it's definitely a walk around lens no tripod needed and coupled with the A1 Mk 2 the stability and AF speed is impressive. Yes it's a pricy beast but half the price of the 400mm or 600mm primes just using the TCs gives virtually the same just one stop of light, Well worth my left kidney
