Sigma 1.4X TC-1401

I purchased the Sigma 15-600mm Sports lens and it came with the 1.4x Converter. I struggled with the 150-600mm in keeping it steady on the monopod photographing an Australian rules football match (AFL) and the result was good but less than impressive (partly due to the photographer and the weight of the lens). I've been using the Nikon 200-500mm for photographing local AFL football games with great results but needed the extra focal length to cover the large football ground which is why I bought Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 Sports. Disappointed with my photographic efforts with the Sigma, I tried experimenting with the Sigma 1.4x converter when I got home with the Nikon 200-500mm F5-6.3 and the results were mind blowing. With the relatively lightweight Nikon 200-500mm and the Sigma 1.4x converter, I get a 280-700mm focal range and the images are clean and crisp with my Nikon D5. I would like to share some of the images taken if Imaging Resource allows me to do so.

fast delivery, this converter works ok on my EOS 5D MK 4 paired with the sigma 150-600mm sport, it will autofocus but its very hit and miss, tiny bit reduction in image quality and like the other reviewers say it cuts out about a stop of light. If you're going to mount it on a tripod and focus manually, its fine-reasonably happy.

Good Points: I have tried teleconverters in the past and had poor results but having done proper testing with the TC-1401 I am really impressed. The detail gain is better than just a Sigma Sport 150-600 and cropping out of all the many D810 pixels. Needs good support though and a bright day for f9 minimum aperture. Improvement Points: Not compatible with some Nikon lenses.

Barely acceptable

I have two cameras that I have used it on. With the Canon 7d mark 2 the focusing is so slow and not very accurate. With my Canon 5d mark 4 the focusing is faster. The images are just barely acceptable. That being said it will do the job I purchased it for, shooting across a river at an egret rookery on a tripod with the Sigma 150-600mm lens.
