Met my expectations

I was a bit nervous about purchasing because of all of the comments regarding poor QC. Luckily I received a good copy on my first try. I use it on a Sony a7iii The only thing I dont like is that the focus at infinity is off which makes it a but frustrating for astro, which is what I purchased it for. I just need to mess around with it during the daytime and figure out where true infinity is. There's a but of coma wide open, but not too bad, and it lessens as you stop the lens down to f2 / f2.8. Not bad vignetting at all, even wide open. Distortion isnt terrible either. It's not super wide so a 15 second exposure is about as long as I can go without noticeable start trailing. Not a huge deal since I can crank my ISO up quite a bit. The images are super sharp. I'm very happy with it. This is the second Rokinon lens I've been happy with. My other one was the 12mm f2 (crop format) for my Sony a6000.

Pretty darn good

I purchased this lens for astrophotography and so far I have been impressed with the results. Manual focus works fine on my D610 and I can either shoot wide open or stop down to f/2 and get really sharp results. For the price its hard to beat.

Excellent lens when stepped down to f/1.8 for...

When used with a speed booster at f/1.4 indicated on the lens it can produce some nasty coma, I have not extensively tested this, but I have a few examples (there is a slim chance this is the speedbooster). Just be forewarned. Be careful when using this in extreme cold weather (-20 deg C), I had some deposition (frost) on the inside of the front element, solution: 2 days in a plastic bag with some silica beads water absorbed. this is no longer an issue. My copy of the lens focused ever so slightly past infinity, so take that into consideration if you plan to use this lens in the dark. Otherwise this is a spectacular astro lens, 4.5/5 recommended.

Don't waste your time - it's not sharp at 1.4

I was hoping for an lens that would perform as advertised. However, the decentering is so bad on the copies I have used that it has to be stopped down to get a useable image. Last night I used the lens at a dark sky site on a new moon to shoot the milky way. The image quality at 1.4 was so bad, due to decentering, I had to stop it down to 2.0 just to get something that wasn't blurry. This is really a 2.0 or eventually a 2.8 lens as it degrades over time. The decentering issues with this lens are well documented. I called Rokinon customer service, during their normal working hours, (actually Elite Brands takes care of the warranty work) and it went straight to voice mail. The two stars is because it will probably get a lot of folks started in astrophotography and then they'll move on to better gear. Don't waste your time. Move on to better gear without going through this hassle. Or just bump up the ISO on a slightly slower lens that's well made.

Nice Astral Photography Lens

I got this back in Nov. 2016 and have shot many night time-lapses, including astral time-lapses. Having progressed through many other lenses over the years for this type of shooting, I have found this lens to be the best so far. I also have the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 and Canon 14mm. Both are nice lenses and got lots of use. But this Rokinon is noticeably clearer. I like the all-manual focus and aperture rings. It's a little heavy compared to my other lenses but the results are so good, I'm looking hard at getting more of this brand of lens for my video camera when I'm ready to expand that system. I set the focus to infinity during day-light hours and put some tape over the focus ring to keep it from getting knocked out of adjustment, then go do my night shooting and the stars never looked better. I use it with a Canon 6D and 7D, and have just got my 5D MK4 but have not tried it yet. I expect it will be a great combo.
