Worst lens I've ever used

Even in 1080p, this lens is unusably soft. It also has terrible chromatic aberration. I've tossed out almost every shot taken with it. Worst lens purchase I've ever made.

Best 85mm ever.

This lens is the best prime I've owned. The lens is solid metal and glass. The lens is exceptionally sharp, and colors are reproduced perfectly. if you like Zeiss lenses, you'll like this one because this is better in my opinion. It is a declicked aperture that turns very smoothly. I use this lens with my Nikon F6 on aperture priority mode.

Delicious optics loose focusing

When I first got this lens, I loved it - the optics are great and it's an inexpensive 85 1.2 - maybe not as nice as the Canon but very nice, and in a native Sony mount. However, the focusing ring has gotten extremely lose - there's more than 1 inch of play now where you can start turning and it just free spins for an inch or so before regaining traction and starting to move the glass again. It can go from ~2 meters focus distance to almost ~4 meters focus distance without anything moving. If I hold the focus ring tight towards the camera (pulling it back) focus is always tight, but it doesn't go from the minimum focus distance to infinity - it gets locked somewhere before infinity (which is actually infinity, but the focus ring moved faster than the lens). I'm sadly disappointed in this lens & will be selling it off in favor if a Canon MF lens with adapter.

Awesome Lens for Pros Only.

This is an awesome lens but you need to solid command on handling a manual lens. This lens is not your everyday street lens. I am a Canon Pro photographer and am using this lens for fashion, portraiture and modeling photography. This is a heavy lens and since manual no stabilization and at wide open aperture very string in the center and soft on the edges which is why you get awesome Bokeh. So if you're a newbie, or intermediate go over an auto focus i.e. Canon or Sigma. another great alternative is Samyang 85 mm 1.4 another classic only below $300.00 and lot cheaper compared to its counterparts.

2 it is unbelievably hard to focus and "if" I...

I used this lens on Nikon DSLR FX bodies. At 1.2 it is unbelievably hard to focus and "if" I got the focus the color fringing is really bad. The post production is a mess! If you are thinking of buying this manual focus lens for your Nikon FX I recommend you to buy Nikon Ai-S lenses. For the price, I think you better off spending your money for Nikkor 85mm. Good luck!
