No negatives noted as well - plenty sharp as is and when used with the included macro adapter. Note however, the B&H images provided at the time of this review are not exactly what you get - this kit includes the M90/f4 #11633 (with a smaller lens ring) and the macro adapter #14409, which is the one with extra cutouts and 'eyes' to correct the viewfinder. I returned the kit for the latest M90/f4, #11670, and got the new macro adapter #14652, which IMO are a better solution for the digital age and live-view use with e.g. a 240.

I like it for its compact size and use it with the new #14652 macro adapter (live view). Nothing to complain about image quality so far. With f4, low-light use can be tricky, but, used for travel, compactness and low weight are usually more important to me than highest speed. The close-up range is not spectacular for a macro, but OK for me. This M90mm/f4 has a wider lens ring than earlier versions, which makes it easier to handle in the collapsed position on the macro adapter. However, an unwelcome side effect of that wider ring is that the included lens hood #12575 cannot be mounted anymore in the reversed 'storage' position as on earlier M90mm/f4 - Leica acknowledged that 'feature' and IMO should update that part.

Although too slow for hand held shots in real dim light, with my M9 either in my studio or outside even on cloudy days it's performance is excellent corner to corner. My 90 Apo might have a slight edge at f4.0 over the Macro wide open but only off a tripod. I can't see any difference at F8.0 in performance. For my last trip to Alaska and Germany and France, I took the Macro leaving the 90 Apo behind because of the size and weight and was not the least bit disappointed. Shooting in DNG, converting to Tiff with minimal tweaks, this lens goes to needle sharp 17 x 22 inch Epson print images with ease right to the corners.

I use the 90 with a Leica M to do landscapes and macro work. The lens is very sharp with the characteristic Leica contrast. This may be the sharpest lens that Leica has ever made. No negatives.
