I previously wrote a longer review of this lens but I thought I would add some additional information. 1. Manual focusing with this lens is 100% accurate with live-view focus peaking. I find it much more difficult when using the traditional viewfinder. 2. The depth of field of this lens is less forgiving than a 35mm or 50mm prime (of course) -- so this takes some practice to learn the strengths of this lens especially when used at wide apertures. 3. Again, it is up to you to decide whether or not this lens is worth the $$$. I used to shoot a Canon DSLR with a Canon 100mm F2.8 prime, and that was a very impressive lens -- for about 20% the cost of the Leica. If you enjoy shooting with Leica and have the budget, I strongly recommend this lens.

I simply love this lens, it is small, perfect for many applications. The only drawback is the flare which can be rather prominent. However, I got used to it so whenever I end up in a situation like this I put my hand on the hood and extend it this way. Few shots were missed due to this though.

Good Points: Sharp - and I mean Sharp! Improvement Points: Fairly heavy compared to my 35mm Sumicron, but a lightweight compared to my Nikon lenses.

I once had this lens, sold it and regretted it almost immediately. Now I have this lens once more and I'll keep it forever (well, almost forever). Terrific image quality regardless of what M camera you use. And it works very well with almost any mirrorless camera… Leica SL and Sony A7R.

I don't very often use this lens but I would be very reluctant to get rid of it. I recently sold my 90mm Summicron (pre asph) and I don't miss it one bit, although it was a beautiful lens. I find the 75mm summicron to be easier to use, for example, portraits or close-ups are straightforward and comfortable to obtain, with a shorter focussing distance resulting in a better view through the rangefinder or in live view. The black, aluminium, body of this lens feels reassuring hefty with that unmistakeable Leica quality feel to it. Focussing and aperture stops are of the usual exquisite Leica feel - overall, a wonderful lens that has a permanent place in my lens case.
