This is a very sharp and compact lens, maybe the best one for travel, but only works well in good light conditions. In low light AF is poor.

I like the response that I get from this lens. I use it to take candid photography. And street photography. Great for landscapes also.

It does the job just right. Of course I have it on my new Leica CL. It is not as fast as the M lenses on my M240, which are all F1 .4. Those of course are fixed focus lenses, and this is a zoom lens. F3 .5 to F 5.6 is not exactly fast, but again this is a zoom lens. I do all of my photography outdoors in West Africa where it wouldn't matter if the lens was F10.0, it would still be plenty fast enough. My subjects are always moving, so just like in sports photography I like to have the shutter speed up, and the aperture fairly high as well, but with a digital camera and fully adjustable ISO this is not a problem at all. It is beautifully made just as I am used to. It is everything a Leica lens promises to be. It certainly seems plenty sharp to me, although the only way I have of measuring is comparing it to other images that I've taken in the past with other lenses. The next time I have an extra bunch of bucks to spend I will by its companion 11-23 mm. lens.

Very sharp and extremely well built standard zoom lens. Not cheap and a little on the slow side for the price but very high quality images.

The Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH lens fulfils its objectives as a fast prime lens for Leica’s L-mount camera bodies. Its build quality is up to the company’s traditional high standards and when used within its limitations it can produce sharp, high quality images, particularly if you shoot raw files. For most of the aperture range, resolution remains high and images are sharp and detailed. The lens is also virtually distortion-free. The internal focusing mechanism makes it relatively quiet to operate and offers potential for very fast autofocusing.
