This Recorder from Sony is awesome, it is the continues success of their PCM-D50, the build quality of the device is amazing, and it has everything you need to start recording right out of the box, the menu is easy to navigate with Functions buttons to make it more efficient and convent for users, Highly recommended.

This audio recorder is the best recorder I have owned. Very easy to use with great level displays. I'm glad I bought one.

I'm not an audio professional, just a hobbyist who collects natural sounds and family interviews just for the pleasure of audio recording. Have used a decent mic and minidisc recorder but went for this because of usability and quality. Still learning how to get a completely clean recording--when subjects are not right in front of the built in mics, say birds in the yard, I get a great recording of them but there's a hiss I haven't figured out yet how to avoid. But much better than the minidisc approach. I have heard very clean samples of this recorder on the internet, so I know it's doable. An enjoyable learning curve.

I purchased the Sony PCM-D-100 recorder as a solution to record my own piano playing at home without the time consuming process of setting up mics, running cables along, setting preamps and the recorder typical a complete setup. I wanted something that I could set and forget, so now each time I want to record I only push a couple of buttons on the included remote control and start playing. Its sound is amazing, extremely quiet and great dynamic range for a baby grand. Studio-like sound at home is priceless. I would definitively recommend it if what you want is great sound, no noise, and great dynamic range.

I've had my eye on digital audio recorders since the Sony D50 was still a new product. I always balked at their prices and went for the cheaper models like the Olympus 7 and Zoom 2 and was always disappointed. My interest waned for a few years but saw that Sony updated to the D100 and bit the bullet and decided to put a crowbar to my wallet and get it. Great choice! So much better than than anything I'd owned previously, including a couple of hi-res audio players. The recordings are crystal clear and spatially correct. It's a powerful unit with a lot of headroom to get the most of whatever you're recording. I mention the audio players because you can add an SD card and transfer high quality audio to the unit and it will double as an audio player. I love this unit. As expensive as it is, it gives me exactly what I was looking for. No regrets! Thanks, Sweetwater!
