Gibson SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry

Apart from the looks of this guitar I was really impressed with the set up. Usually I find a new guitar needs adjusting but this was just great. Typically I use a Strat and I found the pick ups much stronger, and I find myself adjusting the time controls more to hit sweet spots. Overall, I’d definately recommend. I've waited ages to treat myself to my dream guitar and I was not disappointed. Outstanding tone, this thing is a beast. Takes a bit of time to get used to particularly switching from a Tele, but playability is amazing great neck (once you get used to the length) and action, very expressive guitar probably not as versatile as a US Fender strat or tele, but it's a joy to play. The 61 is definetly a cut above the standard in tone and playability. Possibly the best guitar I've ever owned

I was looking to purchase the SG standard 61. The faded was £800 cheaper at the time of purchase (the same guitar other than the finish and pickup covers). Since I am familiar with a faded finish and in some ways prefer it I got this one. I am glad I did, once set up it plays and sounds fantastic……what was never really expected to compare to the Les Paul’s I own has become a definite favourite. I was particularly pleased with sound of this, it’s such a punchy guitar. This one stays in tune well enough even when using the vibrola and has no neck dive at all. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did. Guitar guitar were quick to dispatch after a bank holiday and I received the guitar well packed.

The classic SG, no frills, 60's look, feel and sound... what's not to like!
