I love the binoculars which enable me to see things much more clearly. I was disappointed that the case didn't have a strap only the binoculars.

I have now bought these binoculars twice from Amazon and each time they have arrived broken... The first pair came in a padded envelope. I realised one lens barrel had cracked away from the main body but I could just about look through both, as long as I was holding one of the lens barrels in place. The images looked very good, so I returned this pair and ordered another, from a different supplier. This time an Amazon box arrived. I opened it and... alas! This pair were worse, one lens barrel broken right off inside the binoc case. I was astonished, and wondered about the fragility of these plastic-bodied binocs. It's annoying to have to go through the whole refund process twice, visits to post-office etc because some idiots just put these things in a soft envelope or very small box. Altho I was a long-term fan of Pentax, I have decided not to risk a third purchase and instead go for Barr and Stroud 12x50s. Pentax 12X50 XCF Binoculars With Case

Over the years I have used and owned many different makes and types of Binnoculars. I have to say that the Pentax 12x50 XCF Binnoculars are the best that I have ever used. They are excellent Quality with unbelievable clear veiwing and at an amazing price from Amazon.co.uk.

I bought these as general purpose binoculars but mainly for star gazing. It is possible to use them hand held, especially if you rest your elbows on something, but I get a much steadier image with a tripod. I just use a cheap photographic tripod I had already and a cheap Yukon adapter, also from Amazon, and also to be recommended (though I needed to use a rubber washer as a spacer between the adapter and the binoculars). Light gathering and image quality are superb. Even in the light pollution close to London, I can clearly see the Orion nebula as a blurry cloud surrounded by a host of stars, and four of the moons of Jupiter stand out clearly. The optics are far better than other cheap binoculars I have tried.
