Good Points: First porro prism I’ve used for 40 years- what a great surprise. No wonder so many people rate these bins. Improvement Points: Slightly bulky, that’s all.

Nach langem Zögern habe ich dieses (fast schon berühmte) Fernglas für umgerechnet 460 Euro in England erworben. Ich wurde nicht nicht enttäuscht. Das Fernglas ist ausgezeichnet verarbeitet, das Magnesium-Druckgussgehäuse ist sehr handlich und leicht. Der Einblick für mich perfekt und die optische Leistung gehört in den Premium-Bereich. Das es nicht wasserdicht und Stickstoff gefüllt ist kümmert mich nicht, da ich es ausschließlich als "Schönwetterglas" nutze (oder aber von drinnen aus dem Fenster), für Schlechtwetter habe ich andere Ferngläser (z.b. Steiner Ranger extrem). Es begleitet mich auf Spaziergängen, Radtouren, Urlauben etc. und ich kann ungelogen sagen das es mein Lieblings-Fernglas ist. Die Debatte ob "Alpha-Fernglas" oder nicht ist lächerlich, da es technisch definitiv kein Alpha ist. Für mich ist es aber mein Alpha, einfach weil ich sogern durchschaue!

Apart from all of the excellent features noted here I find this type of binocular (porro-prism) far more pleasant to hold (particularly for long periods) than the newer and now fashionable roof-prism type. Because the r.p. barrels are close together you are required to hold them with the finger ends or tips. The p.p type can be held with the barrels snugly in the palms of the hands. The p.p type also give a better stereoscopic effect because the barrels (lenses) are further apart than in r.p. types. See praise for these binocs from an expert at [...]
