Garmin Edge 1040 Solar

The array of features, combined with the increase in battery life provided by the solar charging, makes the Edge 1040 Solar a delightful rarity: a product that represents a genuine step change rather than an incremental improvement. However, this big leap forward comes at a hefty price.

As the first head unit ever to include solar recharging, the Garmin Edge 1040 Solar is an excellent option for multi-day epics or simply guaranteeing you’ll rarely run out of juice. It's also a welcome upgrade to the brand’s previous flagship model, the Edge 1030 Plus.

Hi, I bought this the battery life is fantastic. I've given it to my partner and we also got a 1050 as I was struggling to see the navigation screen without my glasses when cycling ( my fault i need to buy prescription saftey glasses) anyway both are fantastic the 1040 solar far superior to the 1050 but the bright screen on the 1050 I like and it's simple to work.

After a long ride this device usually shows between 80% to 90 charged. As such, there's no need to worry about running out of power even after 12+ hours in the saddle. Navigation isn't as good, especially with gravel as other brands of bike computers. However, the 1040 solar is as near to perfect as possible.
