Dvd A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place is a unique thriller with the added scary element of a monster that isn't established as to its origins as to what it does when it "hears" movement. The elements of silence also stand out because in a certain way, the film has to play like a silent movie from the early days of film, but its that very element of human nature that tars the scares that made this is successful hit at the box office. Paramount's UHD features a smooth and darkly lit picture image offering up the cool atmosphere to the elements. The Dolby Atmos track is spot on for when its time for the sound to matter. No bonus features on the UHD as they are featured on the BD of this set. Final thoughts is a very well executed film with solid performances from the cast with the old fashioned scare tactics that make this one work well!

2020. Civilisation collapses following the arrival of ravening monsters who track by sound and pounce on any creature who makes a noise. After a terrible loss, a family — father, mother, daughter, son — survive on an isolated farm, but the imminent arrival of a new baby imperils their fragile fortress.

A Quiet Place remains one of the better horror films of the last few years for its story (yes, ending aside), its characters and the tenderness and fallacies they show within a barely 90-minute runtime. Technically, the 4K disc is pretty great, but not a dealbreaker, and the extras remain a little underwhelming, even as the theatrical release of Part II comes out. If you need a version to acquaint yourself with before seeing Part II, this is the one to see, and the steel book packaging may sway you to buy it.

There's certainly something to be said for design consistency. Does this one take it too far? That's up for debate, but the simplistic pattern and reference to one of the film's key features certainly fits the material. The film is first-class and the A/V presentation is excellent. Highly recommended.

What a sound! In a story that has no sound, the sound is truly great. The Dolby Atmos rocks every second of the alien scenes, where the overhead speakers, take the wheel and drives you crazy in your room. The picture is great with great dark scenes and clarity, but I wanted something more and native from a movie that has almost zero CGI, except aliens. After all, great picture, one of the hell sound!!!!!
