It’s 1969, and the San Francisco Chronicle receives letters from serial killer ‘Zodiac? Reporter Paul Avery (Downey Jr.) covers the case, frustrating cops David Toschi (Ruffalo) and Bill Armstrong (Edwards). Years pass, until only Chronicle cartoonist Robert Graysmith (Gyllenhaal) is still in pursuit.

Pristine looking presentation for its Blu-ray release with stunning PQ and AQ. This movie has a beautiful color palette that really shows on HD. Clarity and detail are perfection, colors are neutral, and dark scenes look marvelous. The Dolby TrueHD is also clear and smooth. Special Features are on Disc 2 and features plenty of hours of insightful behind the scenes footage. And when it comes to the movie this is a really well paced, well executed mystery crime drama where little by little things start to unfold and just keeps you glued to your seat to see what happens next. Features fine performances from its 3 protagonist male cast and some really great directing from David Fincher. Let's also note how wonderfully lit this movie is, the cinematography is really something to appraise here, mainly because most of the movie is set at nighttime. Overall, this is a perfect disc scoring 5 starts for every category (movie, video, audio, extras and overall).

Knowing the way David Fincher's movies work, I was expecting a twist at the end, and I was disappointed when there wasn't one. However, Zodiac is still terrifyingly creepy, eerie, and its suspense level rises into Hitchcockian territory. Fincher's refusal to tie up loose ends in the movie as far as leads doesn't seek to confuse; instead, it seeks for the viewer to try to solve this case in his/her head. And for that fact alone, this movie stands out above the average genre fare.

Amazing film. The eerie mood created by Fincher leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time. There may not be much action, but the story still manages to hook you in and keep you interested for the full 150+ minutes. On that note, it may be 150+ minutes, but it certainly does not feel like that in the least.

Zodiac is an ingenious labyrinth of a film that conveniently hits its climax just as we think its slowing down on us. This is great filmmaking from David Fincher, one of the greats of our time.
