Sf TO CATCH A THIEF

Well paramount have done another excellent job on the Hitchcock classic . Very good transfer colours are really amazing ,and the scenery in France is sublime . Really recommend

Retired jewel thief John Robbie springs back into action to locate a daring cat burglar suspected of robbing properties on the Rivière. He befriends wealthy widow Jessie Stevens and her attractive daughter Frances.

To paraphrase FDR, this is a restoration that will go down in infamy. A blurry, over-brightened disaster. Hopefully, Paramount - if it values its own reputation - will withdraw this release, carry out a proper and respectful restoration, and we can all move on. Until then, this is reference material for how to botch just about everything to do with digital film remastering and restoration. Shameful.

To Catch A Thief is not as much of an upgrade as Fatal Attraction, but it’s still a noticeable upgrade. The obvious bump is the showcase of the film’s new color palette — all the color POP!’s like it never did before. On top of the upgrade, you will also get a new feature entitled Filmmaker Focus with film critic and historian Leonard Maltin speaking about the film. Thumbs up!
