Reflecta Crystal Scan 7200 + Ice Diascanner

This product has been a nightmare and it has taken me days to scan any slides. Was delivered with the wrong plug to the power supply so I couldn't plug it in. To be fair an email to the supplier had one to me by the next day but not a great start. Comes with Adobe Elements 12. Installation guide says that this is optional if you already have an alternative. as we already have Adobe Elements 13 then we opted to instal just the driver. Mistake as when this was done neither scanner or Adobe Elements 13 would work, even when we completely reloaded Adobe. Deinstalled 13 and installed 12 and reinstalled the driver. Persistant connectivity problems. Poor manual suggests updating Firmware but doesn't tell you how to do it. Eventually traced (after days of effort) to the USB cable socket in the back of the device which is very flaky. Finally scanning slides but as we paid a bit more for what we thought was a quality product really should not have been this difficult.

Having tried 3 other scanners, which I returned to Amazon, without any success, this one did all that I expected, having previously used a PF3650 for several years but finding it impossible to get a Driver for it when I converted to Windows 7. My problem was to digitilise a collection of some 8000 slides accumulated during a lifetime in Kenya that I wish to pass on to my children in a compact form. I still have some 2000 slides to go!! Thanks to Reflecta this will now be possible - it warrants 5 stars because it does exactly what the PF3650 did. Thank you Amazon.

These are similar to pacific image products from the states (possibly rebadged for european market). My personal experience of their products are that they become expensive paperweights and the company do not want to know. there are some really good products out there that I would trust my precious film with. Not sure if it would be this product. Seriously look around and save yourself a headache in the future.

The scanner is very easy for work, the quality of the scanned file is very good. Only flaw is, that local illumination is not enough for films with big optical density and this leads to very slowly scanning.

I bought this to copy some 2,000 slides to my computer so that my kids could each have access to family photos going back 50 years. My original intention was to purchase a new scanner with a slide adapter but, after reading some reviews, I came to the conclusion that a dedicated slide scanner would be a better buy. Certainly, this is a slow process. I manage around 30 slides in an evening - at 1800 dpi. I can watch T.V. or read a book at the same time so it's not all that time consuming. I am impressed with the results. Some time ago I purchased VueScan to enable me to use an Epson flatbed scanner with Windows 7 and VueScan works perfectly with this slide scanner. The digital ICE facility for removing dust and scratches is most impressive. Adobe Photoshop Elements comes with this scanner and has allowed me to correct the defects that digital ICE can't cope with. If you only want to transfer family photos in slide form to disc or hard drive then this is ideal.
