I can't comment on long term use yet but so far so good I was a bit worried about buying a laser because of colour reproduction  and yes photos aren t going to be as good as an inkjet but shaded backgrounds come out pretty decently like text in a coloured box lots of that in my work . Note that with macOS at least the printer will be detected no need to install software. However you can download PS printer drivers from Canon to give extra options like ColorSync halftoning pattern options and various badly-documented features. I have installed the printer twice once with the default driver and once with the Canon driver. The Canon driver provides access to a 1200dpi mode and also a draft mode which is SO pale but options like duplex are more clunky to set and don't get saved with printer presets.

Have not yet explored all the capabilities of this printer but so far I am delighted with it. The brand was recommended by an independent computer retailer I chose the model after reading several on-line reviews and believing it had all the features I required . I purchased from Printerland because it was most favourably priced there. I was a bit concerned about how big and heavy it is but that is my own fault for not checking the prouct details more thoroughly.

We couldn't be more pleased with this printer. The sales person at Printerland tried to suggest we look at Xerox instead but we stood firm having read some excellent reviews of this elsewhere online. The 657 model has both duplex scanning and duplex printing and for less than 300 at the time of writing this had no competition with these two features. Colour reproduction is great and it's really easy to set-up and use. We're glad we stuck by our research

I have owned this machine for a few months and I have to admit it is very user unfriendly, it is not practical. Every time I want to do print or scan a document I waste 3-4 hours trying to figure out how thing should work. Buy a simpler machine. Unless you have hours you can waste on trying to figure out how things work. The website of this printer is equally retarded.

Bought this about 6 months ago. When it works it is fast. But when it doesn't it is terrible. Printing checks from the automatic feeder works every other time. Scanning to email works, except when nothing happens. Touch screen is a pain. Luckily, I have an old Brother printer that is reliable so I can print there. This will be the last Canon product I buy, and I only bought it because there were no Brother printers available at the time.
