Fujifilm GFX 100RF Silber

I come from medium format film cameras, and all the way through digital from the Nikon D1 on. I moved from Nikon to Fujifilm a few years ago, to the X system with the X-Pro 3. However, I missed the "high" resolution of my D800e and decided I wanted more. The GFX100RF reintroduced me to Medium Format and I was blown away. Does the lack of IBIS concern me? Not at all. I shot Hasselblad hand held. Does the F/4 bother me? Not in the slightest. I'm usually 5.6 or greater anyway, for the work I do. Am I restricted by the fixed lens? Somewhat, but still enjoy the total experience. And, I've now invested into the GFX system so no longer a concern. I'll keep the RF for many reasons, but mostly because it's so much fun to shoot with and yet delivers the professional results I need, when I need it.

I’ve had this since the summer and absolutely adore it. It offers so many wonderful options in a small, lightweight package while delivering medium format pictures. It’s just a joy to use. The only two drawbacks are the position of the “on” switch which protrudes slightly and makes it easy to turn on by accident, and the strap—particularly the little rings which are hard to fit through the lugs and can open up easily once attached. Everything else about the camera is fantastic—even lowlight photography is good!

The Fujifilm GFX100RF puts a huge 102MP medium format sensor into a lightweight, weather-sealed body for travel and everyday carry, but uncomfortable exposure controls detract from an otherwise enjoyable camera.

Fujifilm’s $4,899 GFX100RF is a powerful camera with incredible image quality that’s hampered by a lack of low-light performance. It’s also a niche and expensive product that, unlike Fujifilm’s popular X100 VI, only appeals to a small group of photographers. Its primary rival in this space is Leica’s Q3, which has a smaller 60MP full-frame sensor and higher $6,735 price tag. However, the Q3 has a much faster 28mm f/1.7 lens, less rolling shutter, a single SD UHS-II card slot and up to 8K video. It also has the Leica brand cachet, which does mean something to people spending this kind of money. The GFX100RF is fun to use, though, and introduces several innovations like the aspect ratio dial. Though it may never have a huge market, I think products like this push the industry in new directions and create conversations that draw new people into photography. So even though I’d never buy one, I’m glad the GFX100RF exists for those reasons.
