This was bought for our son who is the photographer for Chelmsford Chieftains Ice Hockey team. He was very pleased with it and is using it at the National play offs at Alexandra Palace this weekend

Moved from the 1DX to the mk3 and WOW so much faster, more functionality and the best thing autofocus during video recording. I didn't buy it because of this but it’s a bonus. All the functions and layout are the same as my 1dx but I’m struggling to set up the autofocus especially when in servo mode and tracking, I wish I’d wrote down the settings I had on my 1dx as I’d got that about right but I can’t remember what I’d set it to. Would be nice for canon to do a video showing how to set for various subjects it would help me greatly. Other than that I think it’s the best camera I’ve had and I’ve had a few in the 1D series of cameras. I’m not a fan of EVF’s but I did look at the R3 but as all my glass is EF I stuck with the DSLR.

This is the third 1dx mark III I have used in a few months. Each of them have exhibited the same fault of the camera suddenly and unexpectedly losing communication with the battery. While the solution is taking the battery out and reinstalling it, this inevitably means losing the shot. This is an unacceptable fault and attempts to get Canon to recognise and deal with the fault have failed.
