Foodsaver Ffs005x Vakuumierer

Bought it after my cheap old one broke. This one is really nice, there is storage for one roll but the best is the cutter that is included to cut the bag easily, no more problem with scissor that doesn't cut the bag!

Got this to go with my new Anova Precision Cooker (Sous-Vide), and it does the job well. The only issues are (a) high running costs: you have to use specially prepared plastic bags/rolls, unlike the regular bags you can use with the more expensive chamber vacuum sealers, and (b), you have to be careful not to fill the device with liquids if vacuum-sealing non-dry foods. Oh, and a minor cosmetic thing, the "stainless steel" lid is actually plastic with a wafer-thin steel covering, that on my model, had a couple of dents in it even before unpacking. An all-plastic model would actually be more attractive!

This works great and also stores the bags so all is neat and compact.

I've taken a lot of masterchef tips on board, but sous vide is one of my favourites. This vacuum packer doesn't have to be just for sous vide cooking; it can help with freezer storage too, but it helps to have a sealer that has flexible use. It has functions to treat wet food and dry food differently, so you don't end up covering the machine in fluid. It comes with a tub so that you can keep food fresh in the fridge for longer. The buttons are a little cryptic unless you have a good memory or the guide to hand, but it's a very efficient and tidy sealer. Compared with the Andrew James sealer, there is a huge difference in price, but I think the variety of options on this one reflects that.
