Fractal Design Design Node 804 Pc-tower-gehäuse

Excellent case for a home server build, plenty of drive space and lots of room. Good thermals overall as well

I have four 3.5" hard drives, a 2.5" SSD, a Blu-Ray drive, and a decently sized cooler in this case with plenty of room to spare. I could easially double the amount of drives in this case if I had the SATA ports for it on my board. Very pleasant to build in. The only gripe I have with this case was the bright blue LED for power and the acrylic side panel.

I really like some Fractal designs such as the Node 304 which is the smaller brother to this case. The 304 can hold up to six 3.5 inch drives while the 804 can hold up to eight drives. While the 304 is a nice compact size for a six drive chassis say for a NAS (Unraid, TrueNAS, OMV, etc.), the 804 not so much. I think most would be happier with a more conventional tower with a smaller foot print or 19 inch rack chassis for an 8 drive system. I have to give Fractal credit for being creative but some of their designs just don't make much sense and that's the case with the 804. The Node 202 also has some rather severe design flaws.

Using this for an mATX Unraid server. Plenty of space for hardware/cables with lots of airflow options. I'm not connecting a lot of USB devices to this machine so the outdated USB-A 3.0 isn't an issue. Access to various compartments is easy so future upgrades are simple. Hard Drives are also rubber gasket mounted to reduce vibration and unwanted noise, they take a little time to install but it's worth the effort.

Great chassis for accomodating my ITX build for a UnRaid server. Needed to replace the Node 304 as it was over heating due to the really small design. This is perfect as it channels the air over each component.
