Following an incident by a professional plumbing company I went forward with associated projects which required locating live wires stud walls and copper pipes. This clever fella did not fail me. Billy bargain

Works well on live cables in walls if you follow the instructions and put your hand on the wall too

Metal detector accurately found wires in dob and dab wall with no problem. Appears to constantly self cal level/gain (which is ok). To detect live wires, current needs to be flowing which is a pain so just easier to rely on metal detection (as with all these tool types). Note didn't work immediately - supplied batteries looked ok - but all fine after changing to new batteries. May have been seating in battery enclosure which could do with improving.

It appears to work. But like lots of detectors you never really feel confident that you know exactly where the electrics are. This maybe due to the construction of walls nowadays; eg foil wraps, steel plates to protect some wiring.

Bought to find water pipes when digging up a concrete floor. So glad I bought it and now can use for smaller jobs like hanging pictures and putting up shelves. On balance good value for money. 5*
